Resumo | Abstract

Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo percorrer o conjunto de escritos do estudioso alemão, Aby Warburg (1867-1929), sobre o tema da astrologia. Warburg é atualmente um dos autores mais estudados no campo da historiografia da arte, bem como naquele da teoria da imagem. O estudo que aqui se propõe permitirá seguir seus escritos voltados para o tema da astrologia, que cumprem um arco temporal que vai de 1908 até seus últimos esforços, cumpridos pouco antes de seu desaparecimento, em 1929. Se a pesquisa levada a cabo por Aby Warburg centrou-se no problema do significado da influência dos antigos para a civilização do Renascimento, o tema da astrologia perseguiu a problemática da orientação do homem no cosmos e sua relação com as imagens produzidas pela arte renascentista. Esta pesquisa procurará identificar e analisar estes momentos além de localizar e contextualizar esta produção, a fim de contribuir para um debate mais argumentado acerca da abordagem proposta pelo historiador para uma ?ciência da cultura? (Kulturwissenschaft), bem como compreender de forma mais aprofundada os meios de pesquisa correlatos de que fez uso para compreensão de uma historia das imagens mentais. Neste sentido, procuraremos abordar, dentre outros, os estudos de Warburg sobre Giordano Bruno e o neoplatonismo, situando a matematização e domesticação dos símbolos com Copérnico e Galileu. O produto desse trabalho permite ainda observar os meandros de sua relação intelectual com o filólogo de Heideberg, Franz Boll (1867-1924), e com o amigo e principal colaborador da fase final de sua vida, o filósofo neo-kantiano Ernst Cassirer (1874-1945). O produto final dessa investigação constará de estudos compreensivos (a serem publicados em revistas especializadas) e, sobretudo, do livro com textos inéditos de Warburg traduzidos para a língua portuguesa: Aby Warburg inédito. Vol. 2. É importante ressaltar que esta pesquisa é a fase posterior de um projeto, realizado entre 2013 e 2016, no qual observamos de que maneira a abordagem da arte italiana do Renascimento proposta por Jacob Burckhardt dá origem a um estudo histórico-artístico que percorre o século XX, integrando de modo nada abstrato a arte no contexto de sua criação, enfocando as relações entre comitência, colecionismo e produção artística. Nossa intenção, na primeira fase do projeto, foi partir da obra de Jacob Burckhardt sobre os colecionadores no Renascimento e, em seguida, buscar seus desdobramentos na primeira metade do Novecentos, observando sua influência na obra de Aby Warburg e de Martin Wackernagel. Na fase que agora se inicia, a produção de Warburg coloca-se no centro do interesse, com foco em seus escritos sobre astrologia, que consta de um vasto material inédito em língua portuguesa.

This research aims to cover the set of writings by the German scholar, Aby Warburg (1867-1929), on the subject of astrology. Warburg is currently one of the most studied authors in the field of art historiography, as well as that of image theory. The study proposed here will allow us to follow his writings on the subject of astrology, which fulfill a time span that goes from 1908 to his last efforts, carried out shortly before his disappearance, in 1929. If the research carried out by Aby Warburg focused on the problem of the meaning of the influence of the ancients for the civilization of the Renaissance, the theme of astrology pursued the problematic of man's orientation in the cosmos and its relationship with the images produced by Renaissance art. This research will seek to identify and analyze these moments, in addition to locating and contextualizing this production, in order to contribute to a more argued debate about the approach proposed by the historian for a ?science of culture? (Kulturwissenschaft), as well as a deeper understanding of the related means of research that he used to understand a history of mental images. In this sense, we will seek to approach, among others, Warburg's studies on Giordano Bruno and Neoplatonism, situating the mathematization and domestication of symbols with Copernicus and Galileo. The product of this work also allows us to observe the intricacies of his intellectual relationship with the philologist of Heideberg, Franz Boll (1867-1924), and with his friend and main collaborator in the final phase of his life, the neo-Kantian philosopher Ernst Cassirer (1874). -1945). The final product of this investigation will consist of comprehensive studies (to be published in specialized journals) and, above all, the book with unpublished texts by Warburg translated into Portuguese: Aby Warburg unpublished. Vol. 2. It is important to emphasize that this research is the later phase of a project, carried out between 2013 and 2016, in which we observe how the approach to Italian Renaissance art proposed by Jacob Burckhardt gives rise to a historical-artistic study that spans the 20th century , integrating art in a non-abstract way in the context of its creation, focusing on the relationships between committee, collecting and artistic production. Our intention, in the first phase of the project, was to start with Jacob Burckhardt's work on collectors in the Renaissance and then look for its developments in the first half of the 19th century, observing its influence on the work of Aby Warburg and Martin Wackernagel. In the phase that is now beginning, Warburg's production is at the center of interest, with a focus on his writings on astrology, which consists of vast unpublished material in Portuguese.
